Indivisible: What's the plan? - February 20 Meeting Highlights

I attended the Indivisible Skype conference call, "What's the plan?" on February 20 hosted by co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin.  The call was well attended, and unlike EVERY Skype call I have ever attended / hosted, came off without any technical difficulties.  Leah and Ezra certainly get points for that!

The highlights:

  • Get involved - Use the resources at Indivisible to identify teams in your region, and if you don't see a team you can identify with, start one!  If there is a specific issue that you want to address aside from a regional team, start one!
  • Tie into your congressional reps - Engage with your district congresspersons and Senators for upcoming Town Hall meetings.
  • "Laughtavism" - A term that Leah brought up, to not be afraid to point to the absurdity of a given issue and call it out for what it is; example "The Gulf of America". I have always been a proponent of the "Point and laugh" approach.
  • Rachel Maddow - The meeting also included a excerpt from The Rachel Maddow show of her calling out the work of Indivisible and reading passages from The Nation.

Detailed minutes and transcripts have not been released yet. If other folks who follow this blog have attended and have more notes and thoughts to contribute, please do so in the comments!

Good meeting; glad to be involved.
