Positivity

This week in "Good News!" - From OMG: Billie Eilish donates $11.5 million, calls out billionaires

Apparently both Mark Fuckerberg and George Lucas were in the audience; Lucas was enthusiastic, Fuckerberg, not so much.

“We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark, and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country,” Eilish told a room packed with celebrities and Zuckerberg. “I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it.” She continued, saying, Love you all, but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”

I admit I am not much of a fan of her music, but I admire her.  I watched her interview on CBS Sunday Morning, and it was... quite good! She is very humble and grounded.

I hope her altruism inspires others.

The Oracle of Stillness: Weaving Coherence in the Chaos

Debra of "She Who Seeks" blog as a most remarkable posting of a multi-media weaving exhibit by artist Noreen Crone-Findlay.

"The Oracle of Stillness: Weaving Coherence in the Chaos by artist Noreen Crone-Findlay features many wonderful mixed-media figurines celebrating sacred geometry and the "timeless echoes of the Feminine Divine" (as stated in the brochure). So you know it was right up my alley! Each one incorporates elements such as weaving, knitting, crochet, fused glass, paintings, ceramics, wire, beadwork, macrame, found objects, etc. to bring them to vibrant life."

Debra, thank you for sharing your journey!  As with all your posts, these are quite beautiful and very fascinating!

A betting man.

Over my morning coffee, I was treated to a wonderful breakdown by Ali Davis at the Wonkette sub-stack site of the fitness of our Toddler in Chief, the melting SCROTUS administration and what comes next after he's cast off (in any form).

JD Vance sits in a white chair on the CPAC stage. He is wearing a light blue tie that waterfalls down over his crotch, and skinny-leg suit pants. Sitting down has made the pantlegs hike up o

A worthy read, it does a superb summary of the strengths, weaknesses and ineptitude of the administrations cabinet members, and their chances of succession once the inevitable occurs... soon.

I do concur with Davis, I believe that Stephen Miller is going to gun for a high-control spot, if not ascension into the role of POTUS, that Constitution thing be damned.

"Stephen Miller, who has (Allegedly!) already been doing the job of the President as well as the jobs of a few Cabinet secretaries, is absolutely going to make a move. Laws or no laws, I don’t see him prying his gnarled little claws one-by-one from the reins of power, even if he were physically capable of doing such a thing."

Personally, I suspect that with Trump gone, the GOP will try and come back to some sense of civility, because they are (hopefully) learning that servitude to an Evil Overlord is not playing well to the masses, no matter HOW the maps get gerrymandered.

Davis has a Part II to this outline that offers additional focus on Vance. Everything in these outlines really jibes with the piece-parts that I've read over the past months.  Feels like I am reading a Cliff Notes version of all that; broken down, digestible.

The always interesting Keith Olbermann posits this morning about "Why do they keep giving Trump cognitive tests?"

So much press... so much discussion... I can only hope the end to this nightmare is coming soon.

Onward,

Tearing the band-aid off.

I’m just going to tear this band-aid off - we are now a Tesla household.

Repairs to the husbands 10-yo Nissan Rogue were starting to run us North of $1,000 every other month for yet another “normal” road wear fix, add to that we were looking at tire replacement this winter, he pushed the button.

Back story - last November I took delivery of a Rivian R1T. Our first EV; we had no idea what to expect, but over the year, came to appreciate the architecture and overall fuel cost savings, not to mention the exquisite build and ride quality. It took me about 6 months to get over “range anxiety” and learn how to plan longer distance drives.  It made the decision for him to go for an EV easy.

My Rivian R1T
So with the Nissan failing, in August, the husband started in earnest with researching and test driving the EV’s that were available and in our regional market. We took several weeks and looked at everything. He was determined to take advantage of the EV tax credits before SCROTUS abolished them at the end of September. He took a very pragmatic approach to assessing the options. When all was said and done (and you removed the politics from the equation) the updated Tesla Model Y (Juniper) was the best of breed and well within the price point he was aiming for. He got a three year, high-mileage lease on it (he put 165k miles on the Rogue). I will say, it is a very pleasant vehicle to ride in; solid. Quiet. Inconspicuous...

Husbands Model Y

This is also the first time in our 27 years together that it was the first such acquisition that was 100% his decision and effort, I finally got to sit back and just observe. It was… nice to abdicate. Heck; this is the first time I am not listed on a leasing or sales agreement! He’s happy with the choice, and I am happy for him. He has a solid daily-driver to get him back and forth to work, and we're still married.

On that, with the addition of the Tesla, we are now an all-EV household.

I will post more down the road about the overall experience of owning and driving and EV and getting close to carbon neutral.

Onward...

The Epstein Ballroom

 BRILLIANT!!!

Monday

RIP - Maureen Robinson...

I woke up feeling like something more ominous than normal was afoot.  Reported this morning, June Lockhart has passed away.

Forbes has a wonderful obituary of June; her numerous roles and contributions to society. Such an incredible person.  More from AP News, and an emotional tribute from Dan Monroe on his YouTube channel, "Movies, Music & Monsters".   She was 100.

Sunday Morning Sip

Happy Last Sunday of October!

Yes, indeed!

...and to know my limits on being out in public.

I am so there.

And the added sarcasm is not helping.

Ah-Yup.

...sigh...

Would not be surprised.

 Godzilla on the mount.

That's me - the blower fires up at dawn.

I know that look. x2.

Thank you Jef Mallett

Splendid!

...or get ANY medical advice from ANY politician!

Ah-yup.
I saw that on a bumper sticker a week or so ago and
just about rammed the asshole.

Thinking of you, JS!

I am at that age that, if I have to sit on the floor,
I first look to see what is around me that I can use to
get back up...

What kind of coffee do you like?
Great video on coffees from around the world!

Priorities.

These are my absolute favorite days.  The weather is clear, the temperature is glorious and mild, the sun is warm but not blazing.

The last of the flowers are peaking.

Tithonia (Mexican Sunflower)

 Firecracker Plant

...and I may even find a few figs waiting to be plucked.

Brown Turkey Fig

I'm going to power down for these glorious weekend days; get away from the desk and the PC.   Take my mug of coffee and enjoy the smells and scenes around the yard, naked!

...um... that means without my phone...

Unless there is a Big Beautiful Obituary, postings will be light until Monday.

Priorities.
