Where were you on the morning of 9/11?
The morning of September 11, I was sitting in my home office in St. Petersburg FL, awaiting a conference call to begin. Several folks were on the conference bridge ahead of schedule, and we started chatting about how our weekends went. Then someone mentioned "...something happened at the World Trade Center... wow! Looks horrible!" I turned on the TV and put on CNN just in time to see this...
Our call quickly ended as we became rapt with fear and sadness. Absolute shock.
From Britannica, "...September 11 attacks, series of airline hijackings and suicide attacks committed in 2001 by 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda against targets in the United States, the deadliest terrorist attacks on American soil in U.S. history. The attacks against New York City and Washington, D.C., caused extensive death and destruction and triggered an enormous U.S. effort to combat terrorism."
The devastation... to the city, to our country, to our democracy... is a scar that will never fully heal. It is not to be celebrated... (Vance) or crudely self-fictionalized (Trump)... it is to be held in solemn and quiet contemplation.
As I am fond of closing,
Onward.
Rade
