Waffles is out!

 Rhode Island Democratic Primary; McKee has been unseated as Governor.

He was Lt. Governor under Gina Raimondo.  We liked Gina, but she got hired into the Biden administration, and Waffles ascended into the top stop.  Why "waffles"?  Don't get me wrong, Dan is a nice guy, just... he watches the wind too much and changed his mind on a lot of issues based on popular opinion rather than if an action actually serves Rhode Island.  In recent years, he's just become... inert.  

Helena Foulkes... I sort of like her.  The ONE sour note I had with her is that she is the ex-CEO of CVS.  Can you say "big pharma"?   But she is a "born and raised" Rhode Islander, unlike Ashley Kalis (R), a carpetbagger / transplant who ran against McKee six years ago.  I will get behind Helena in the November election. 

The November election is Helena's to lose.  We are a DEEP BLUE state and we like our locals to ascend into leadership.   

Sadly, Brett Smiley lost as incumbent in the Providence mayoral election to David Morales, whom I likened to "Snidely Whiplash". 

 

Brett also came out of the Raimondo camp; he was her Chief of Staff.  Providence did well by him; a lot of positive development.   But the Providence election was for Providence, not the rest of us.  I'll just keep an eye on Morales and see what he does to or for the city.
