AP - More than 2 million New Yorkers cast ballots in the contest, the largest turnout in a mayoral race in more than 50 years, according to the city’s Board of Elections. With roughly 90% of the votes counted, Mamdani held an approximately 9 percentage point lead over Cuomo.
“The conventional wisdom would tell you that I am far from the perfect candidate. I am young, despite my best efforts to grow older. I am Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And most damning of all, I refuse to apologize for any of this,” Mamdani declared to a roaring crowd at his victory party. Reuters went on to add; "If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him. And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power," Mamdani told a raucous crowd of supporters. "So Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, I have four words for you: turn the volume up."
Overall, it was a great night for Democrats and a really bad night for Trump.
Very happy for NYC!!!
Onward,
Rade

Good news!
Good news everywhere.
I'm disappointed in Mamdani's acceptance speech. He won with 50.4% of the vote and kept calling it a "mandate." No, sir, it isn't. You want to see a mandate? Look at the other races and their win margins: 13 pts, 16 pts.... Those are mandates.
Keep in mind that this was a 3-way race. From ABC, as of this morning, he was clearly 7 points ahead of any of the other candidates.
