#1 Cat.

Lilo, #1 cat (of the three)... is not well.

Took her to the vet on Saturday after several days of not eating, and she has been in the animal equivalent of an ICU ever since with apparent severe kidney failure. They have her on an IV and assorted medications.
Yesterday, she was lethargic and not responding.
Today, she seemed to have a little more energy.

I spent a better part of the today with her, and got her to take in 33ml of liquid food via syringe (1ml at a time), which, when I looked at the bowl when she "had enough" was quite a bit more than she normally eats when she's home.

Awaiting the call on today's lab work. We don't know what the condition is of her kidneys until then; if there will be a rebound. Either she comes home for hospice care, or she stays until she stabilizes further and I go over daily (about an hours drive) to hand feed her until her strength returns.

Normally, I check in on the blog a couple times a day, but I will be out of pocket until I see this through.

UPDATE: Her lab work today has come back with positive trends on kidney functions.  She is not out of the woods, but at least she might be on the right path. More days in the ICU before she comes home; perhaps as soon as Friday.

Damn, that sounds scary. I hope she will be feeling better soon.

Understandable, so take your time, you're doing what every responsible and loving pet owner at some point. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. My Sophie went through this until I had to make the final decision for her.
