Happy Birthday - Aretha

The most incredible talent of my generation.  I can listen to you all day long.

So beautiful. So missed.

 Thank you, Aretha.

Aretha, along with The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and many others, came to us at a time when their gifts were right up there with Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, The Beatles, The Stones and many others. Most of us never considered the color of anyone's skin, we just recognized talent when we heard it and enjoyed the shit out of that Motown sound and all who contributed to it.

She was indeed a powerhouse! Instantly recognizable voice. Another person who stood up for themselves to do the kind of music that spoke to them --- and it spoke to an entire generation.
