10 Signs For Modest Optimism

I have occasionally read Robert Reich's articles and watched his YouTube channels.  During the election season, I scaled back a bit - he was getting a little too "...this is a SURE THING that Trump will lose!" in his videos, buying into the positivity of the Harris / Walz campaign momentum.  Well, we see where that went...

That said, Infidel753 posted a link to a February article by Reich - 10 Things For Modest Optimism.  I read it and you know... it's pragmatic, logical and does not feel like hype.  I think the take away is, we STILL must refrain from the knee-jerk reactions to whatever is promoted in the media.  Stick to your (figurative) guns, remain focused on what YOU can accomplish; every bit is helping! Boycotts, protests, organizing, Town Hall Meetings, any and all of it - keep it up!  The dam won't collapse from one crack, but make a bunch and watch what happens.

Image: Three Gorges Dam - notice the buckling of the structure.                                                                                                                      The dam is plagued with hundreds of small cracks.                                                                                                                          China is saying "Nothing to see here, folks.  Move along!"

As Robert Reich summarized, "Those of you who want the leaders of the Democratic Party to step up and be heard are right, of course. But political parties do not lead. The anti-war movement and the Civil Rights Movement didn’t depend on the Democratic Party for their successes. They depended on a mass mobilization of all of us who accepted the responsibilities of being American.

We will prevail because we are relearning the basic truth — that we are the leaders we’ve been waiting for."

Resist! Make those cracks in the Trump dam!

Onward!
