In this day and age of MAGA, I refuse to fly the American flag. It's been too... bastardized... by the radical Right...
...and frequently raped by SCROTUS, though at over 250 years old, hardly considered a minor nor will this be found in the Epstein files.
I will still raise it for special occasions; honoring veterans (always and anything), passage of NOTABLE politicians (not radical, incendiary fuck-wads), national holidays and like observances. Up for one day and done.
That said, I DO have a selection of pennants and flags that I WILL raise. In support of our scientific communities, I proudly raised the following:
Science Does Not Care What You Believe
Fuck Trump, fuck RFK Jr., fuck the anti-vaxxers. Here's to hoping you reap what you have sewn.

I agree wholeheartedly with your whole post. It's such a shame too cuz I used to fly the flag every Memorial Day Labor Day 4th of July Veterans Day to get the gist. Like you I haven't flown the flag since he took office. And I hate to say it you're almost afraid to fly it because now the image of its ruined. The party at rot is single-handedly ruining everything. Melinda having a civil war again and wouldn't surprise me if the country ends up divided in half Democrats will live on one side of the country and Republicans on the other.
Fly the flag of the US and people assume you're MAGAt these days.

We have a somewhat abandoned garage on a lot at the bottom of our hill. The few times I saw the garage doors open, there were nothing but MAGA and Trump banners on the walls. Over the past few years, the property around it had become a homeless encampment. Last week, police cars and the DPW were stationed down there; cordoned off the street and cleared the lot of all the abandoned vehicles, campers, etc., and the homeless got bussed out. No sooner was the lot cleared than a brand-e-new flag pole and American flag got planted in front of the garage. My only thought was "What a bunch of MAGA fuckers". Now in all honesty, I do not know what exactly transpired down there; I am just putting one and one together. I'll wait and see what is in the town paper later this week.
