First (edible) harvest of the season - Paw Paw's!

Usually, on the husbands Birthday earlier in the month, the paw paw's have ripened and begin to drop.  This year, they are off by about two weeks.  Over the past two days, I was able to pick about 4 pounds of fruit, which yielded a about two and a half cups of pulp.  

 

After good 20 minutes of cleaning and mixing the batter, I ended up with three INCREDIBLE Paw Paw cakes!   

 

 

Paw Paw are wonderful trees; native to North America and will grow well from Zone 8 to Zone 4 (the Carolina's to Maine).  The ripe fruit is like a cross between a mango and banana.  We got a LOT more fruit on the tree, but I need my picker to reach them.
