RIP - Jean Luc Picard...

What a horrible week.  First, Chekov, now Admiral Picard...

AP News: [Sir] Patrick Stewart, the classically trained actor who added Shakespearean gravitas to the “Star Trek” and “X-Men” franchises, has died. He was 86.Stewart died Wednesday in Los Angeles, following “a brief and poignant journey” with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia, spokesperson Kelly Bush Novak said. Stewart’s diagnoses had not been previously disclosed.

We have been binge-watching "Star Trek: Picard" on Paramount (just started last week). My heart broke when the news was announced this afternoon.  A fantastically versatile actor.

Along with staring as Captain Picard on both the small and large screen, he chose a rapid departure from the dramatic series to co-star in "Jeffrey", the 1995 poignant, romantic comedy about the quest for love and intimacy in the age of AIDS.  Stewart played the flamboyant "Sterling", shattering the mold of Picard.

Just a sad... sad... day.

Farewell, Captain.

Oh no! I hadn't heard this! What a loss. I loved him in "Star Trek" and as Professor X in the "X-Men" movies. And yes, in "Jeffrey" too! He was always a wonderful ally to our community. I guess this means his upcoming appearance in "Avengers 5: Doomsday" will be his final screen role.

I am verklempt.
