Time to stop looking in the rear-view mirror.

This has been an interesting month and positive.  The trip South was enjoyable and I am currently writing a long essay for a posting once it's done.

Miles of cotton fields through the Carolina's

But this has been a month of changes.  As of September 30, my husband is retired in a mutual agreement between he and his employer.  We have been prepared for it for some time, but had hoped to go a few more months until I go on Medicare.  Just prior to the trip when the call came in, I had to scramble to get on the RI Health Insurance exchange (Yes!  That is still a thing; thank the maker Obama!), and now have the gap coverage until Medicare with the BCBS/RI medical insurance (signed up yesterday) kicks in on December 1.

The change in his status, however, has been beneficial.  He's... alive... again. Rested.  Happy. I am seeing the light in his eyes. The job, laborer for a government subcontractor here in RI, was physically and emotionally wearing him down (he's 61).  This vacation was a good reset for him.  I see him awake and functioning at 8AM instead of Noon.  Energized. He is talking in positivity about here (home), about him, about us (Bikes?  He wants to get the mountain bikes out?).

As for here - well... honestly, I want to spend my days with him.  After 28 years, it feels like it has been forever since we got to just... be together, in daylight... and not HAVE to be somewhere or do something on a weekend while he's still worn out and processing the garbage from a week at work.

Really feeling like - Life is Good.

Onward, upward, forward.

I'm happy for your husband (and you) -- retirement is great! Glad you got the bridge health coverage too.

Having been retired myself for a little over a year, I know what a huge positive difference it makes in a person's life. I think your husband will continue feeling the benefits of it.
