After a early morning of slogging through news and blogs, I decided I needed an escape. The local cinema offered the perfect refuge with a morning matinee of "Downton Abby: The Grand Finale"
It was wonderful to just get lost in the fantastic characters created by Julian Fellowes set in the fictional Downton Abby in Yorkshire England set in the years from WWI through the Great Depression. The series was a an obsession... a salvation to the stresses and tensions of life. The trio of big-screen adaptations continued to carry that mantle; offering a look into upper crust of society and servitude living and working together.
This final installment, set as 1930 rolls into London bring a deep, nostalgic look into the foundational characters, along with several that were only introduced through the films.
Drama, light humor and Noel Coward! Thomas Barrow (Robert James-Collier) even returned as Guy Dexter Dexter's (Dominic West) "valet/manager/lover".

I always watched Downton Abbey when it was on. Have seen the movies too. And I'd pay good money to watch Barrows dress and undress and do other naughtiest to Guy Dexter!!!!!!
There are very touching vignettes during the final credits one of which lingers lingers on the couple! Well, it IS a Focus Film...
Watched faithfully. Looking forward to this, all while I miss Maggie Smith.
