It was not Julia Child who did it, it were Clarissa Dickson Wright and Jennifer Patterson, the "Two Fat Ladies", who pulled me into the world of culinary love. I stumbled upon their series sometime in the late 90's, and just fell in love with them, their cooking style and sharp banner. The show took them all over the UK in their Triumph motorcycle and sidecar.
"The unlikely hit featured two heavyset, aging ladies who delighted viewers with their disdain for healthy food and their politically incorrect banter."
Everything started with a "...pound of butter...". The recipes, though based in the culinary staple of where ever the episode was filmed, were really basic; other than the local ingredients, something that could easily be reproduced. It was lovely!
The series ran for 24 episodes, from 1996 until, sadly Jennifer passed away in 1999. (Clarissa in 2014).
