And Happy Fathers Day!
My Dad - 1998
One of my last photos of him.
down from Pittsburgh to stay with me for a week in St. Petersburg. The last weekend of his stay was with his brother down in Boca Raton then they were flying home from there. On the drive over from St. Pete, he lamented that one of his dreams had been to stick his feet in the Atlantic ocean. I said, "Sure, Dad! Let's do it!", so this was him at the beach in Boca.
He said that he wanted to live to see the Millennium. On New Years Day, 2000, I was on the phone with him when the first of his several massive strokes hit. We sat with him in the Pittsburgh hospital for several weeks until he stabilized enough, then had an air ambulance bring him down to St. Pete where we arranged hospice near my home at that time.
He survived until January 19, 2000.
At his memorial, we played his favorite tune by Frank.
Happy Father's Day, dad.
I think about you every day.
