I just sit until the urge passes.

I made a tactical error back in August when my Doctor booked my follow up appointment with all requisite fasting blood work... one lab and two office visits slated for today. Back then I thought "Sure! Why not! I'm retired! What else do I have to do?"

When I realized the blunder of my error... yesterday, for 2026 I now have a "DO NOT SCHEDULE ANYTHING!" blocking out the last two weeks of next December.

My "...urge to be merry" keeps getting thrashed.

After dinner last night, husband asked if we would drive down the East Bay to Newport to see Christmas lights. We figured; Downtown Newport. Mansions! Bellevue Avenue!

Nada. Barely a wreath ON THE MANSION GATES, let alone any light displays. Nothing. It's a shame, I remember when Bellevue Avenue was a destination for Christmas lights back in the 1980's. It was very "Currier & Ives". This season a few homes had a little something going on, but nothing inspirational. Otherwise, it was pretty bleak. Not even a decoration on the City street lights along Thames street, the main shopping thoroughfare! Meandered back home through Middletown and Portsmouth to Tiverton. Nothing. At best, that "Fuck it" meme summed up the visual experience.

Felt like the world just gave up. No urge to be merry.

Giving up, losing hope is the goal of the current administration. If they succeed in that, we will be a lost nation. That is why I started at the end of September to fill my little home with 9 themed Christmas trees and festooned the entire house, bathrooms included, with color, light and activity. Some may say it's a bit overdone but it has helped me overcome the negative thoughts I've had since last November, being surrounded by visual stimuli, friends and family who share my beliefs that this will come to an end and we will have good leadership once again. Each must do whatever carries them through. It truly is in us to persevere and survive the "Madness of King Gorge."

Neighborhoods here used to decorate up right. Then people started blocking driveways, parking on lawns, leaving trash.... Eventually, the decorations stopped.
