This story is still developing.
From AP News - Police have person of interest in custody over Brown University shooting that killed 2, wounded 9
From Reuters - Police hold person of interest after Brown University shooting leaves two dead
It appears that they have apprehended a "Person of Interest" in this act of violence. We know that area of Providence well; frequently have a dinner there and stroll the shops along Thayer Street. I am not going to make and knee jerk reactions or speculations; information is still coming in and motive has yet to be determined. My heart does go out to those students who witnessed the ordeal and to watch their classmates being shot in front of their eyes. Having a niece in Graduate school (in NYC), and knowing the absurd level of stress she is under to get through her finals, I can only imaging what these students are dealing with.
Onward.
In peace.

This easily preventable death toll will unfortunately continue to rise long after I am dead, from natural causes or this scenario. We know that as fact because we live in a country where common-sense gun control is always overridden by politicians who line their pockets with cash from gun owners and lobbyists. Sporadically shootings happen in other countries as it did recently in Australia, but not on a daily occurrence as it happens here in the good ole USA. Sickening!
I am resigned myself to the fact that America will never have common sense gun controls nor a good system to tackle the mental illnesses that seem to be the basis for many of these events. Nothing will ever improve, I suspect, in my lifetime. I have resigned myself to these truths.
Tragic, as always.
Senseless.
