This morning, Blondie Goldie is over at the community cat center getting, examined, snipped and vaccinated. I found an organization in Rhode Island that does "Trap and Release" for feral cats; a non-profit that just asks for a donation to cover the procedures.
"Goldie" seemed more fitting...
Next week ESD (pronounced "EssDee" for "Etta's Stunt Double") get her turn.
ESD
Both of them have heated outdoor beds that are well used.
Goldies bedroom (my handiwork made from old scrap wood)
ESD's bedroom (bought it from Chewy; came with the heater)
Both also have heated water dishes.
My feeling is that; once they get through these examinations, surgeries and vaccinations, if they want to become house cats; welcome! If not; if they still want to be outdoor / yard cats, great! If they want to take off, I'm good with that, too - just knowing they have all their shots and won't be adding to the neighborhood feral population is enough for me.
A concern that I have that won't get answered until ESD comes back is if either or both of them test positive for Feline Leukemia. In catteries, it is readily transmitted by shared food and litter boxes, and passed down to kittens if a female is infected prior to birthing a littler. It is also rather rampant in the feral population. Our duo are vaccinated against it, but the specter is still there.
Onward,
Rade

Heated outdoor beds and water dishes! Nice.
I’d like a heated outdoor bed! Hope tests come back clear. I also hope they decide to become indoor cats. So much safer. They are adorable!
I hope so too, though our current duo would be just happy if the new duo took flight upon return. Lilo (short hair Siamese mix) wants nothing to do with the interlopers. Etta is considerably more chill.
You are a good steward and Samaritan to our animal friends and I thank you for your efforts to shelter them and insure good health.
I agree with Milleson. Thank you.
